The historical center of Sorrento is 10 minutes from Relais Villa Savarese. Of very ancient
origins and birthplace of Torquato Tasso, it has maintained it charm of centuries and history and art unaltered, which have left very
interesting remains. The Roman decumanus can still be recognized which crossed the small roads, where it is possible to visit the Basilica of
Sant’Antonino, with the many picturesque votive offerings by sailors and fishermen who survived shipwrecks, the Museo Bottega
dellaTarsia Lignea, which testifies to the popular art of inlaid wood, the Romanesque Cathedral, Sedile Dominova, a
refined 15th century building, Museo Correale di Terranova which contains the rooms of Villa Correale, surrounded by a wonderful citrus
grove and spectacular terrace over the sea, it contains a very interesting collection of paintings and everyday objects from Campania's
traditions from the 16th to 19th centuries. Via San Cesareo is the main shopping street, lines with shops and boutiques where it
is possible to choose from colorful ceramics and items in inlaid wood, as well as crafted coral, refined lacework and embroidery,
and among the gourmet items: limoncello, delizie al limone (Sorrento's dessert), Provolone del Monaco, Braided mozzarella and extra
virgin olive oil.
Sorrento's summer is a wonderful season of culture and high society with literary encounters, very high level classical
music and jazz concerts held in the lovely setting of the Chiostro di San Francesco.
In the heart of Sant'Agnello di Sorrento, along Corso Crawford, the gates of Relais
Villa Savarese can be glimpsed, one of the most prestigious charming hotels in Sorrento, framed by a wonderful palm and citrus tree
garden.
The elegant and peaceful Corso Crawford where the hotel is located, gets its name from the American writer
Francis Marion Crawford who like many poets and literati including Goethe, Stendhal and Byron, chose Sant'Agnello (in 1885) as their residence,
the town at the gates of Sorrento home to hotel Relais Villa Savarese, a refined luxury hotel.
Villa Crawford is
still one of the prettiest in Sant'Agnello and Sorrento, sitting on a cliff above the sea, surrounded by a park embellished by the
sculptures of Thomas Crawford, the writer's father, and today the site of an important religious institute, as desired by the writer's
heirs.
The mild climate, courteousness of the people, good food, charming landscapes and ancient historic and artistic
traditions make Sorrento and Sant'Agnello one of the most beautiful spots in Italy, which Relais Villa Savarese has the fortune
and honor to share with its guests.
In a privileged position among charming hotels in Sorrento, Relais Villa
Savarese is 300 meters from the beaches, where at Lido di Marinella, one of the prettiest in Sorrento, famous beach concessions
ensure splendid days of sun and sea. To experience the wonderful sea of Sorrento and the Sorrento Peninsula, one kilometer from the Relais, is
Marina Piccola, with a landing for hydrofoils for Capri, Ischia and Naples and boats for tours to Punta Campanella, a wonderful
